00d.uk is a small British site about real ducks. The tuxedo is a mascot. The map, the science, and the conservation pages are meant to be useful. We cannot walk every scrape ourselves, and we should not pretend to.
If you look after habitat, treat injured birds, count wildfowl, or sell something that actually helps people watch ducks without wrecking the water, we would like to hear from you. The aim is a positive partnership: better information on this site, and, where it fits, advertising that a reader can trust.
We are not affiliated with the organisations named below unless a named partnership is listed here. Naming them is an invitation, not a claim.
Who we hope to hear from

- Habitat people — wildlife trusts, WWT centres, RSPB and other reserves, catchment and floodplain projects, canal and park rangers who still have reeds and mud on their boots.
- Care people — wildlife hospitals, licensed rehabilitators, rescue groups who take mallards off fishing line and ducklings out of drains.
- Local knowledge — bird clubs, WeBS counters, county recorders, hide wardens, teachers who take a class to a gravel pit and come back with the right story.
- Kind advertisers — native-plant nurseries, ethical optics, wetland-safe feed, field guides, membership schemes. Not junk. Not “best duck socks”.
Help us build the pages
This is the partnership we want most. You keep doing the work. We help people find it without turning up at the wrong gate or throwing bread at a roost.
Useful things to send:
- A water we should add to the map — public access, what you might see, when to go, and how not to wreck it.
- A water we should soften — seasonal closure, ground-nesting, dogs, or a feeding ban we missed.
- A one-paragraph brief on a restoration: what was wet, what dried, what came back.
- Care notes: who to call if a bird is hooked, oiled, or a duckling is alone. Link Respect if you want the manners version first.
- Species or habitat corrections on Conservation, Habitats, or Rare ducks. We would rather be accurate than punchy.
Credit is offered. A line such as “Notes from X Wildlife Trust, used with permission” is the default. If you would rather stay unnamed, say so.
Advertising, if it earns its keep
Yes, we are open to advertising partnerships. The test is simple: would a reader who cares about ducks be glad we showed it?
A good fit
- Membership or “adopt a wetland” from a genuine conservation body
- Binoculars and scopes sold by people who will tell you the truth about close-focus
- Native plants, seed, and pond kit that does not include a plastic heron
- Field guides, hides, and days out that stay on the path
- Wildlife-safe feed (oats, grains) sold as an alternative to bread — not as a licence to dump sacks
A poor fit
- Anything that treats ducks as decoration: dumping ornamentals, “feed the ducks” tourist junk, drones over rafts
- Mystery supplements, miracle pond dyes, or lead tackle dressed up as heritage
- Ads that shout over the article. If it needs a pop-up, it does not belong here
Ads will be labelled. No pretending a nursery is an editorial pick if money changed hands. For the publisher’s legal pages see Contact and Affiliate disclosure. 00d.uk is published by Tabaconda LLC.
We would rather run fewer, better notices than a wall of unrelated banners. A seasonal note from a local trust can beat a national campaign.
Local resources we want to list
This page will grow a directory as people write in. Until then, treat it as an open notebook. We are looking for, by county or water:
| Kind | Examples of what to send |
|---|---|
| Habitat | Reserve pages, volunteering days, “keep off the scrape” dates |
| Conservation | Restoration write-ups, membership, species alerts |
| Animal care | Wildlife hospitals, licensed rehabilitators, fishing-line rescue |
| Watching | Clubs, hide booking, public WeBS sites, park ranger notes |
| Trade | Nurseries, optics, guides — only if you are willing to be named as an advertiser or a disclosed supporter |
We will not list a Facebook group we cannot verify. We will not list a “rescue” that keeps wild mallards as pets. If that sounds strict, it is because the birds cannot read the comments.
How to write
Email [email protected] with the subject 00d.uk partnership.
Please include:
- Who you are (trust, hospital, club, business)
- County or waters you care about
- Whether this is information, advertising, or both
- Links we may publish
- Any credit or “please don’t name us” note
Corrections and accessibility notes can use the same address, or the contact page.
We will not sell a mailing list. We will not turn a hospital’s phone number into a pop-up. The point of 00d.uk is still a tufted duck on a gravel pit in January — and the people who keep that pit wet.
